It is with great sadness the news of the death of Pat Larner was received two days before TMOR. The regatta started in sombre mood as competitors and officers stood for a minute’s silence in memory of Pat, a vice president and trustee of EACC who had died two days before. He had been due to run the racing on Saturday. Instead the club flag flew at half mast. Pat will be remembered as a very thoughtful, kind person who took a lot of time over issues he was interested in particularly planning matters. He was extremely good at his job. It was surprising how much he did behind the scenes for various people and organisations in which he was involved. Right up to the last Pat was working with EACCs other trustees John Atkins and Mollie Howes negotiating with BESL and the Broads Authority to ensure that the flood defense work at Thurne left EACC's operating platform for the line at TMOR and other regattas in a usable state. Some members will be at his funeral to bid him a final farewell at St Georges, Tombland Friday 11th at 3.30pm. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family.
