| Northern Rivers Cruise 2005 |
We knew it was going to be windy ........ but not THAT windy! At 1000 hours three boats huddled together on the north side of the Potter bridges for comfort while their crews made the (easy) decision to retreat to calmer waters. That decision made, Jane and Paul with Amaryllis, Pam and Mike with Pamela and Margaret and Roger with Shalla departed to hold a summit at the Thurne Lion.

TMOR 05 Update
What a great weekend, a big thanks to our sponsors who helped us to provide live entertainment both Saturday and Sunday evenings

The Committee appeared to have over-ordered wind on Saturday, and a little under-ordered on Sunday! We will try to get that order right for next year!!

 The weekend started with a perishing cold north wind, recorded at 32 knots on the Bure. The crews of the 4 intrepid boats which turned up wisely decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and remained steadfastly attached to the bank, with racing abandoned for the day. (This was much to the delight of the race officers, who didn’t fancy sitting on the Point any longer – it was too windy to put the tent up and the distinct lack of shelter meant it was freezing over there!)

What a difference a year makes; last year, cold, wet and windless and this year, sunny, warm and with a good afternoon breeze. We even had carpets laid to greet the competitors! No, we weren’t expecting royalty; we were just covering up the mud! Nil desperandum – Lesley’s lawn is beginning to take shape!
