Was it worth it?
Barton Regatta – I mean its over three hours with the outboard from the moorings (that's six hours of sailing around Thurne to be sacrificed), its always on that busy Bank Holiday weekend, the mast has to be taken down (and put back up), and there is no pub within easy reach of the Broad, not to mention the fact that there are no moorings – its mud weight only!
Well I had the weekend off, and although the weather forecast did not seem too good it was not too bad, so off I went on Saturday lunchtime, lugging all my weekend supplies down to Thurne and across to the club moorings. I am knackered, there does not seem to be much wind, and I'm thinking perhaps this is not such a good idea, but I did see that Pixie was in the water, and Adrian did shout something to the effect that he was aiming to get to Barton the next day.
Sun Glory and Ranger still on moorings, so not sure who will be at Barton (other than Paul who has previously advised me that he will be there).
The lack of wind dictates the use of the motor all the way to Barton, and I follow another Powles boat Milkmaid? Or was it Merrymaid? Up the Ant, passing them at the bridge.
I reach the broad late afternoon, the cruiser race was still underway, so I cut the outboard and raise the sails, not only for the peace, but also for the sailing – I haven't been out for weeks!
