The 4 teams were evenly matched through rounds on general knowledge, science and nature, 70’s music and an alphabet round. The secret is now out that the hits of Barry Manilow are well known to the teams. The picture quiz round of famous tall ships and racing yachts proved decisive with the ultimate winners, the Lavender Tarts showing unrivalled knowledge. This proved too much for the other teams (Aardvarks, What’s all about? and Black Marlin) who were all just a few points behind.

The Thurne Lion again made excellent hosts and welcomed us into the bar with a roaring fire on a chilly evening. The entry fee plus a top up of small change produced a donation of £60 to the evening’s chosen charity, Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
