12 boats entered Saturday afternoon’s race but the wind strengthened considerably just before the race, not leaving enough time for reefing, so unfortunately only 6 finished.

Everyone enjoyed the bar-b-que at Hunter’s Moorings and the facilities were a great treat – a shower after a very hot sticky day was most welcome.

Still quite a blow on Sunday morning so of the 6 boats that ventured out most got up early enough to put a reef in. The pursuit race was excellent spectator sport – Joan taking the honours from Blue Jacket with Mischief in third place. 2nd, 3rd and 4th places were all within a 100 metres or so with Beth hot on Mischief’s tail and the boys in Blue Jacket sailed their socks off and managed to stay ahead of the two faster boats.

The conditions for Sunday afternoon’s Roundabout favoured the boats that went early as things were more relaxed for the later boats as the wind died.

Unfortunately there were splinters, Joan had a winch fly off Saturday afternoon, which fortunately landed inside the boat so was hastily repaired Saturday evening. Joy had some running repairs to her mainsail and Pippa retired Sunday morning shortly after the start of the race when her spreaders broke.

Congratulations to Steve Seeney and the crew of Mischief winners of the Moth Salver.

Many thanks to Graham and John, Ian and Dave for running the event.
