EACC ran the Open Weekend for the YBODs at Thurne mouth last weekend and I was helping. I’m Katie and I’m 10. The wind was a bit fluky and light.

Seven boats entered. Paul Carrington sailing Peacock came first in the first race. I was helping Steve Seeney, the EACC officer of the day, by pressing the buzzer at the start to give the 10 minute, 5 minute and start. It was so light that we decided that we would shorten the course. They still only managed to sail one lap. I rang the finish bell as they crossed the line. The race was an hour long.
The second race was to start at 4.30 but moved to 4 o'clock to take advantage of the wind. Before the start we moved the Acle mark in, so we could give them 2 laps. The race started with 3 boats being over, so I pressed the buzzer twice and the OOD called out the sail numbers. It was a light wind race. They all completed the course in an hour, with Paul Carrington starting last and finishing first.
The third race, on Sunday was at 11 oclock, with light wind and strong tide. Patrick Richardson sailing Vanessa did a great start on port tack on the port end of the start line. He flew up a difficult beat to the St Benets mark. It took them an hour to get the short distance back to Thurne mouth. Patrick won by miles.
The last race was postponed because the wind changed. It then took the boats 5 minutes to get over the line after the race finally started, due to the strong tides and lack of wind. Tom Moore sailing Lycaena got a great start, but Paul came through in Peacock to take the last race and win the event overall.
