10th March 2010
The job is completed. We now need to pray that the dry conditions we have experienced in the last week continue and that we have a good work party around Easter (date to be anounced) to get the site cleaned up and hopefully seeded.

Dredging is to start on the club moorings at Thurne on Tuesday, 2nd March 2010. Weather permitting, the work will be complete within the week. However the dredgings have to be placed on the grass area of the site, and it could be some time before this spoil fully dries out. The conditions on and beside each mooring will be reviewed at Easter, when a club working party is proposed.
The club owes a debt of gratitude for the incredible amount of time and hard work Su Davies, our moorings officer, has put into organising this work. Thanks to her efforts and some eleveth hour negotiations we will not now have to put this off until next winter, as, at one stage, it was feared we might. We may have to put up with a bit of mud at the start of the season but as experience has shown in the past, with a bit of effort and some drier weather it is surprising how quickly the grass re-establishes and the site returns to normal. Thanks Su.

As you maybe aware, the EACC committee has been looking into having the mooring basin and small dyke at the EACC Thurne mooring site dredged over the winter period.
Written consent from both EA and BA is required to carry out these works. At present these are still outstanding with no known timetable for approvals to be granted. After approaching 3 contractors to carry out the works, one has been selected by the committee and is on a week’s standby to start the dredging, upon receipt of the written approvals.
At present however, there is no guarantee of when this can be carried out, nor whether it will be complete in time for the Easter weekend as previously hoped.
Su will send out update to berth holders in a month, or sooner if anything significant changes.
