Saturday, 20th January 2024, 6.30 for 7.00pm
at the White Horse in Upton
It's only a few days now to our first social event of 2024, and we have received the menu from the White Horse so you are able to make your dinner choices in the comfort of your own front room before heading out to the pub.
The menu can be seen here: MENU
The pub have asked if everyone can submit their dinner choices and any allergen requirements in advance to help them with making the evening run smoothly, so please can you send your starter and/or mains choices to Ian Stewart before Friday 19th January.
The pub have kindly offered to set up tabs for everyone under their boat name (or surname if you don't have a boat) and they will pre-load them with your food choices so you can then add your drinks through the evening and pay your whole tab at the end of the night, saving anyone having to pay in advance.
Therefore, please can you send your boat name (or surname if you don't have a boat), any allergen requirements and your food choices to Ian, by Friday 19th January.
Hope to see lots of you there!

SINGING THE FISHING
@ THE MADDERMARKET
This is not an official EACC social event but is directed and produced by our own Jo Edye.
If anyone would like to organise a club visit it would be welcomed,
otherwise please make you own arrangement if interested.
Following on from Crude Apache’s sellout show at the Maddermarket in 2020 about the Norfolk Broads: At the Turning of the Tide, the company will take the audience out to sea and into the world of the herring fishing industry from 1892 to the nineteen-sixties.
Singing the Fishing is a musical play based on Ewan McColl’s sixties BBC radio broadcast of the same name.
Using all of MacColl’s original songs and based on the original musical direction by Peggy Seeger, the company weave music and narrative together into a gripping and enchanting tale of man’s battle against the elements, the sea, the vagaries of a capitalist market place and two world wars.
Singing the Fishing is a human story of joy, triumph and tragedy, with a large ensemble cast and a multi-instrumental acoustic band, led by Norwich’s own Punch House Band, bringing the music and story to vivid and dramatic life.
This show will appeal to anyone who loves the sea and boats, who loves the history of the East Coast and its industry or who loves folk music and particularly the music of the great Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger.
The show is dedicated to the memory of Ewan, the generosity of Peggy and the legacy of the fishermen of Great Yarmouth and the East Coast.
Singing the Fishing runs from Wednesday the 24th - Saturday the 27th of January 2024 at 19:30pm with a matinee on Saturday at 14:30 pm.
Tickets for all shows are £12 and £10 for concessions
