WINTER WALK 2025
Sunday 9th February 2025, at 10 am
Leader: Jimmy and Carolyn James
EACC (flexible dinning and walking experience).
It will start and finish at Surligham Ferry Public House, Surligham, and this year just to make a change we have built into the event the opportunity for breakfast, coffee, cake, lunch and a walk!
Car parking
will be available at Surligham Ferry PH carpark for all attending this walk, where it is planned to meet at 1000hrs and set off walking at 1030hrs.
Breakfast
will be served at the Ferry from 0900hrs for those who may wish to ‘make the most of the day’
Set off walking
We will set off at 1030hrs
Coffee
There is a planned coffee, cake (and toilet) stop at Teles Patisserie on route.
Lunch
Surligham Ferry for lunch (booked for 1330hrs)
The walk will be flexible, in that not only will there be options for shortened routes, but also some of the originally planned routes may need to be amended on the day as dependent upon tides some parts may be a little wet (again!)
Whatever route is taken on the day, even if just on roads please, please make sure that you have good waterproof footwear, as the going is currently considered damp and muddy in places.
Dogs (and well-behaved owners) are most welcome on the walk, and in the pub. (Having seen three deer on the ‘check walk’ today we would suggest perhaps keeping some of the most sporting hounds on leads, - unless you don’t mind the sport of chasing your dog, chasing the local wildlife, across muddy marsh?)
Surligham Ferry have undertaken to cater for us all simultaneously, but in order for them to do this we have been asked to pre-order from the below:
Also available:
Roast Lamb £13.95
Fish Pie £15.95
Cottage Pie £14.95
There is a pudding menu which we can choose from on the day.
If you wish to dine in our group, please let Jimmy James know by Sunday 19 January 2025
Sunday is a busy day for the pub, so to make sure you can have a seat at a table for lunch I will need names, and menu choices by Sunday 19 January at the latest, but the sooner the better as this event in the past has proved very popular and there is a limit to the numbers the pub can accept.
It would also be helpful to the pub to know how many would like a breakfast, so please let me know so I can warn them how many eggs etc to be ready to cook.
And if you are just coming for lunch, that will be fine, just let me know.
And finally for anyone who may be interested:
Lee Vasey is playing at Surlingham Ferry 4.0pm to 6.30pm on the day of our Winter Walk.
So those who may wish to stay for some of Lee Vasey best music will be most welcome, but from about 3.30pm we may have to 'budge up' nice and close as he usually attracts a good following.
Lee Vasey - Norwich's No. 1 Guitar Player
